I grew up on the stunning South African coast, where adventure was always calling my name. The water was my playground, and it didn't take long for me to fall in love with sailing. As a young'n, I joined the local naval cadet base and dove headfirst into the maritime world. Those early experiences laid the foundation for my skills and eventually led me to represent South Africa in naval cadet competitions and sailing races on a national and international level. And thanks to homeschooling, I had the freedom to dedicate loads of time to these passions.
In 2004, after finishing up school, I was ready for the next big thing. So, I hopped on board a boat as part of a delivery crew and crossed the vast Atlantic Ocean from Cape Town to the West Indies. Talk about a wild ride! That journey opened up a whole new world for meβa career on large yachts. And you know what? I'm still rocking it as a captain after 17 years.
But let me tell you, my thirst for adventure doesn't stop at sea. When I'm not on board, I'm out there exploring the most remote and breathtaking places with my trusty camera in hand. Mountains are my jam! From Pakistan to Nepal, Africa to Alaska, Antarctica and beyond, I've soaked up the beauty of these incredible destinations. And guess what? I'm not planning on slowing down anytime soon. The world is my playground, and I'm determined to keep pushing my limits.
This whole journey has been a wild and humbling ride. I'm incredibly grateful for the amazing experiences I've had so far. And you know what? I'm pumped for whatever lies ahead. As long as the big guy upstairs is on board, I'll keep embracing the thrill of exploration.
When I'm not off on my adventures, I make sure to spend quality time with my family in South Africa and Dubai. Oh, and Barcelona, Spain is my awesome home base π
